The Cambridge Inter-Collegiate Christian Union (CICCU) is first and foremost a group of worshippers of Jesus Christ. We believe in his death for the forgiveness of our wrongdoing. His resurrection marks the first decisive step in God's new creation. We accept Jesus and ask him, on the cross, to stand in our place, taking on himself the anger of God we rightly deserve for the evil in us. This saves us to a wonderful hope, since we look forward to his return when he will recreate this whole broken world, restoring its original perfection. He will live with us there forever, the perfect, great God. For more details, please see Two Ways to Live, or ask a member in your college.
Nothing could be better than this. So, we want to tell this great news to every student in Cambridge, because it is only by hearing about Jesus that people can come to know him. We therefore have this aim:
CICCU exists to make Jesus Christ known to students in Cambridge.
To do this, we must unite and strengthen ourselves for this work.
One reason for membership is to show that we wish to take part in this part of God’s mission for his church. It is a way of (1) declaring your faith in Jesus, (2) showing our shared commitment to God’s mission in Cambridge, and (3) demonstrating your desire to serve him for his glory by making disciples as we grow as disciples ourselves.
The other reason is that we would like to know who shares this aim, in order to help us identify who you are and support you living for and showing Jesus at university.
I desire to declare my faith in Jesus as my saviour, my Lord, and my God.
Our work for God must be done according to his oversight, so the declaration begins with a simple statement about Jesus. We do not want to exclude any Christians, and all should be able to sign this.
In joining the CICCU, I declare my intention to support its work as expressed in the aim, by active participation in its witness, by prayer and giving, on a college and University level.
We agree to be part of the activities of the CICCU, and take responsibility for its needs in prayer and giving.
