The Gospel (good news about Jesus) is for the whole world

Christianity isn’t just for Western people. God tell us in the Bible that his plan has always been for people from the whole world to believe in Jesus. In one part of the Bible (Revelation 7 verse 9) he talks about ‘a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb [a name for Jesus]’. And actually that’s pretty obvious in Cambridge where students from all over the World are Christians, people who believe in Jesus and follow him. Here’s the story of Danni from Shanghai who recently became a Christian.

The Gospel is awesome news for anyone

The ‘Gospel’ about Jesus is a word meaning ‘good news’. This news is that even though we have not honoured God as we should have done, he has decided to forgive us and to accept us back into a good relationship with him, if we want that. God offers everyone a chance to live with him as our Father and our leader, if we accept that offer. That’s great news! Millions of people across the world believe that to be true, including very many in Cambridge, and so it’s worth investigating.

Investigating isn’t very hard in Cambridge

In some parts of the world it is difficult to find out about Jesus and his Gospel, but not in Cambridge! There are lots of ways to investigate Christianity. There are events that explain about Jesus, every week there is Compass Café where it’s possible to chat with Christians and read some of the Bible with them, and in colleges there are international reps who have a specific role to help international students to investigate Christianity. If you’d like to find out more but you don’t know where to start, you could email Alex Philpott, the International Secretary for the Cambridge Christian Union and he’d love to help.
